| Target Corp. New GiftCard Designs and Patent Portfolio
Target continues to grow its best-in-class intellectual property portfolio. In fact, they have the largest patent portfolio in the retail industry and their GiftCard patent portfolio is the most robust.
On June 20, Target refreshed their innovative GiftCard assortment with some new cards and others that have been guest-favorites. Of the 30 GiftCards, seven GiftCards carry patents or have a patent pending.
The Teacher 2010 GiftCard is made of wood and has been issued a patent, keeping this sustainable product unique to Target. The Bullseye Flyer GiftCard is making its debut appearance with the June 20 set and has a patent pending for the GiftCard's functionality to morph into a toy plane made of balsa wood.
With more than 100 pending and approved patents, including patents on light, sound and interactive elements such pull-apart gift cards, Target's GiftCard portfolio continues to grow.
Target will continue to obtain patents to protect their innovative GiftCard designs, which will ensure they're exclusively available to surprise and delight the guests with each store visit.
